University of Dayton hosted the Fifth EI International Conference between May 19-22.
The focus of the conference was “Ecclesiology and Exclusion”.
The main organizer for this event was Dennis Doyle, a renowned expert on communion ecclesiology and veteran of ecumenical processes in the United States. The nature and success of the event underlined his expertise not only in terms of the theoretical aspects of koinonia, but also konionia in practice. The theme for this event was ‘Ecclesiology and Exclusion: Boundaries of Being and Belonging in Postmodern Times’ and it explored such important issues, themes and challenges as neo-exclusivism in the church, ecclesiology and migration, ecclesiology and racial justice, exclusion and women’s ministry, exclusion and sacramental practices, exclusion and gender in the church, as well as a range of inter-disciplinary perspectives and an open forum on future prospects and hopes for the church.
