• Conference Theme:

‘Religion, Authority and the State: from Constantine to the Secular and Beyond’.

The 2013 gathering comes at a pertinent time when the presumed 1700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan will be marked. This was a historical moment in history that embraces and epitomizes so many issues, challenges and tensions concerning where the peoples and faiths of the world dwell in common, and what divides them. This will therefore take forward many of the conversations and collaborations begun last year at the Assisi 2012 gathering.

  • This 2013 International Gathering of the Ecclesiological Investigations Network will take place in the city of Belgrade, Serbia from June 20-22. Serbia is the birthplace of Constantine as well as an historical meeting point for differing religious cultures and between the ‘east’ and ‘west’. So our event will also feature an excursion to historic sites and we hope to continue the method developed at earlier meetings, whereby participants share a great deal of time together in meals and social activities throughout the day outside of the formal conference schedule.
